Inspired by images of urban landscapes, my work concerns creating landscapes through watercolour and layering the architectural forms using repetitive stitching onto paper.
My interest is in recording the images we absorb everyday; the thousands of shapes and forms that relate to the journeys we take, images that we are unaware of and that are in our subconscious.
The fragments of memory, past sensations and experiences that are associated with a particular urban or natural landscape form the basis of my work.
The fragility of our landscapes is forever increasing through human destruction; our habitat, pollution and climate change which all contribute to this.
Through repetitive sewing, images are built up from a series of quick and impulsive responses, conjuring up the urban spirit of the place and time, repeating the paths we take everyday and creating architectural forms of landscapes, with a layering of personal marking.
